Wicked Women of the Bible by Ann Spangler
I’ve read a few books highlighting specific women of the Bible so I was excited about the opportunity, granted by Family Christian Stores, to read and review a book filled with information and inspiration from many women of the Bible. In Wicked Women of the Bible, Ann Spangler takes us through Bible history from Old Testament Eve to New Testament Mary Magdalene. She shows us how wicked bad women and wicked good women played important roles in shaping Bible history. The book reads well in everyday language and voice. It is like reading 20 short stories, a short story about each woman. I love the way these inspirational stories are told in chronological historical order, rather than jumping in and out of various eras. When needed, we are given a little information about the culture in which these women lived. This added depth and understanding to these stories. This additional knowledge clarifies minor details that might otherwise go unnoticed or misunderstood.
Each woman’s story is connected to a familiar story about a man or men of the Bible so by reading Wicked Women of the Bible, the reader may gain a deeper and better understanding of the men of the Bible.
Ann Spangler does acknowledge that she adds minor details here and there to enhance the story line. This usually concerns me but after reading the book, I found it to be Biblically accurate.

Wicked Women of the Bible is written so that it could be used as a Bible study resource. A Bible study leader could go through the entire book from beginning to end or she could pick and choose specific women or even a particular historical era.
I enjoyed reading about these women and their contributions to Bible history. If you are interested in learning more about the women of the Bible, the wicked bad and the wicked good, then I recommend this book as a valuable resource.
