I love my modern day appliances and kitchen tools, but I have to admit that a retro kitchen theme is tempting. As I was thinking about what my retro kitchen might look like, I started looking for what is available. Here are some of my favorite items so far. Who knows? Maybe some day, I'll do a retro home make-over in my house.
20 Favorite Retro Items for a Retro Home Make-Over
This pink Mason jar set includes a sealed cookie jar, a utensil holder, a measuring spoon set, measuring cups, a spoon rest, salt and pepper shakers, and a sponge holder. The item description says the sponge is included. One suggestion is to use the utensil jar as a flower vase, maybe a center piece for your table. If you're not crazy about the pink color, it also comes in blue.
If you're just starting out, you might need matching utensils. If you are "seasoned" like me, your utensils are worn out so you need new ones anyway. Well, here's a matching set. This set includes a slotted spoon, a cooking spoon, 1 turner, one spatula, and one ladle. The item description says these utensils are heat resistant and dishwasher safe.
Last year, I got a new set of cookware. Mine are from Cuisineart and I love them, but if you like the retro pink Mason jar set above, you might like a retro set of posts and pans to keep your retro theme going. This is a 5 piece ceramic cookware set. The set includes a 1.5QT saucepan with a glass lid, a 2.5QT stockpot with a glass lid, and a 10 inch frying pan.
Next up is The Original Butter Bell Crock. The item description says the color is pale sandalwood matte but it looks like it is the closest color to the pink items above. The item description also says this butter crock will keep butter spreadable for 30 days without refrigeration.
This bread box measures 16 inches long, 9 inches wide, and
6.5 inches tall. It is made from powder coated steel. It also comes in white.
It's not pink, but this retro stainless steel electric water kettle is so cute. It has a lighted on/off indicator switch, a temperature gauge, and a water level indicator window. The cord stores neatly into the base.
Let's not forget about the animals. A cute retro dog food storage tin like this one will fit right in. It's small, measuring 9.84 inches high (including the lid), 7.25 inches wide, and 6.5 inches deep. It's made of enamel and comes with a scoop.
This retro trash can comes in a variety of colors. The one shown here is turquoise. It is made of powder coated steel. It's a 13.2 gallon trash can.
How about something in red? I love this 3 piece high top set in chrome and red. It has an all steel frame. The item description says it's perfect for a garage or man cave, but I can see this table in a kitchen breakfast nook. My great aunt had a Coca Cola room. This set would be perfect in a Coca Cola themed kitchen or any kitchen with red accents.
Here's the perfect salt and pepper shaker for the red table above. It's a retro gas station filling pump salt and pepper shaker set. It is individually hand-crafted from cold cast resin. The salt and pepper shakers are glass.
I wish I had room in my kitchen for this Sydney Kitchen Island Cart. There are lots of island carts available but I like this light green one because it has the retro look that I'm interested in. It has a stainless steel top, a side towel bar, one storage drawer, one door, and one shelf.
Ok, I'm going back to that pretty retro pink, but I just found this retro dusty pink telephone. I wish it had the old fashioned dial, but a push button is OK too. It comes in a variety of colors in including blue and red so it would go great in a kitchen with that red table above. It plugs into any phone socket for use.
Here's a retro metal bin set. It includes a bread box and tins for sugar, coffee, tea, and biscuits. They are made of tin and zinc galvanized steel with a powdered coating
It's hard for me to think of a microwave as "retro." I mean . . . I can remember when they first came out, but this one is so cute. It reminds me of an old radio. Seriously, microwaves weren't even around in the 50s and 60s but this one would look nice on a retro kitchen countertop and it will compliment other retro kitchen appliances.
This wall clock is another great addition to a retro kitchen. It has a built in timer and thermometer.
Let's step outside the kitchen and onto your porch. Place a picture of sweet tea on this metal side table and enjoy the sunshine
. The only thing I don't like about this little table is that it doesn't come with a chair.
Now, let's go back inside. I'm pretty sure I once had an alarm clock similar to this one. I know everybody uses their modern cell phones as an alarm clock these days, but if you're styling a retro bedroom, then here's an alarm clock for your night stand.
Do you have any old vinyl records stored away somewhere? Well, pull them back out because now you can listen to your favorite classic hits with this suitcase style record player. Mine was green. I wish I still had it. I loved that old thing.
If you're interested in the record player above, you might want to add this vinyl record style area rug. It only covers a small area though. It's only 4' diameter, but if I had a retro themed music room, this little rug would be a must.
The last item on this retro home list is probably my favorite. I've always wanted an antique style claw foot bath tub. Maybe someday I'll get one.
