Fatherhood is a role of immense significance in the Bible. The Scriptures are replete with verses that not only underscore its importance but also outline the traits of a Godly father.  Let's look into some of these Bible verses about fatherhood, offering guidance and encouragement to fathers.

Bible Verses About Fatherhood

Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord. Ephesians 6:4
This verse not only highlights the responsibility of fathers but also underscores the crucial role they play in their children's lives. It calls upon fathers to raise their children with love, guidance, and the teachings of the Lord, emphasizing the importance of nurturing a positive and supportive relationship with their children while providing spiritual direction.
A righteous person who walks in his integrity-
How blessed are his sons after him. Proverbs 20:7
Here, we see the powerful impact of a father's righteousness on his children. It serves as a reminder of the significant influence a father's character and actions can have on his children.

Train up a child in the way he should go,
Even when he grows older he will not abandon it.  Proverbs 22:6

This verse not only emphasizes the influential role of a father in the upbringing and spiritual guidance of his children but also instills a sense of hope. It underscores the importance of instilling moral and spiritual principles in children from a young age, recognizing that this foundation will endure throughout their lives, offering fathers hope for their children's future.

Fathers, do not antagonize your children, so that they will not become discouraged.  Colossians 3:21
In this verse, fathers are urged not to embitter or exasperate their children but rather to encourage and support them. It underscores the impact of a father's interactions and demeanor on his children's emotional well-being.

But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.  1 Timothy 5:8

Raising Kingdom Kids by Tony Evans is available here.
These words, which I am commanding you today, shall be on your heart. And you shall repeat them diligently to your sons and speak of them when you sit in your house, when you walk on the road, when you lie down, and when you get up.  Deuteronomy 6:6-7
Fathers, make sure you talk about the Scriptures with your children every day.  Your children need to see you living out your faith in ever aspect of your life - when you sit in your homes, when you walk outside, when you go to bed at night, and when you get up in the morning.
He who withholds his rod hates his son,
But he who loves him disciplines him diligently.  Proverbs 13:24
Dads, discipline your children.  There are many different ways to discipline children.  Let's not spend time here arguing about what is appropriate and what isn't.  This will look different for different families.  The key is to make sure our children understand that our actions have consequences.  Discipline should be consistent and not pleasant.
Just as you know how we were exhorting and encouraging and imploring each one of you as a father would his own children, so that you would walk in a manner worthy of the God who calls you into His own kingdom and glory.  1 Thessalonians 2:11-12
Daddies, encourage your children in the Lord so that they may walk in a manner worthy of the God who calls them into his own Kingdom and glory.
But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.  Joshua 24:15b
Fathers, make Joshua 24:15 your motto.  Choose this day to lead your family in serving the Lord.  You are the God-ordained leader of your household . . . so lead.
Behold, children are a gift of the Lord,
The fruit of the womb is a reward.
Like arrows in the hand of a warrior,
So are the children of one’s youth.
Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them;
They will not be ashamed
When they speak with their enemies in the gate.  Psalm 127:3-5
Dads, fatherhood is a gift, a high calling, and a blessing.  Don't ever forget that.
